After so much success through out the years, Rihanna has announced she will be moving her annual Diamond Ball to New York City in September.
The ball originally started in 2015 when Rihanna threw her first event in Los Angeles. It was extremely successful, raising over 2 million and raised even more the following year with over 3 million dollars in funds. Now she is looking to move her foundation’s ball to the east coast for her third annual fundraiser.
According to the ‘Anti’ artist in a Billboard interview, “New York always offers the perfect backdrop for an amazing event, which is why I am thrilled to have Diamond Ball there. It’s a great way to celebrate the Clara Lionel Foundation’s accomplishments as well as bring awareness to our mission globally. I know it’ll be a night to remember!”
Well if the coming night is anything like the previous years, there will be much to remember. She brought out the celebrity flair with past hosts Kevin Hart and Leonardo DiCaprio as well as performances by Lionel Richie and herself. Tickets are averagely between $3,000 and $10,000, so it’s expected the high prices come with high expectations.
Yet the event isn’t only enjoyable, it’s for a good cause. Her Clara Lionel Foundation, named after her grandparents, was founded in 2012 with the hopes of supporting underprivileged communities in art, health, and education. Rih Rih definitely reached beyond that goal with millions raised and a modern oncology and nuclear medicine center built at a hospital in the Caribbean.
The facility was built to provide breast cancer diagnosis and treatment options for locals. She also founded the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program to financially assist students from the Caribbean to attend schools in America.
That mixed with all her other efforts to improve the community is what earned her the title of 2017 Humanitarian of the Year award from Harvard University.
This years gala is sure to bring even more awareness to her foundation. Stay tuned to our site to stay on top of who will be hosting and preforming in New York this year.
