JAY-Z’ ‘4:44’ Goes Platinum In Less Than 1 Week

The saltiest rappers and fans in the world even have to appreciate this, only 5 days since JAY-Z dropped his 13th studio album, it’s gone platinum.

Today JAY received news from RIAA that his 13th solo album is now platinum. That makes Jay the leading rapper in platinum records by a Hip Hop artist.

This isn’t his first time when it comes to going platinum so quick. In 2013, JAY-Z went platinum in one day with his album Magna Carta Holy Grail.

His most current project has found such success due to his current Tidal deal with Sprint according to Billboard. Not only does Tidal offer a free 6-month subscription to all Sprint carriers, but the phone company also purchased 1 million copies, the main cause behind his platinum success.

His 10 song, diary themed album covered major topics, pertinent to our communities, but also suffered from some backlash as well. Rappers like Boosie and Future have seemed to come back at Jigga for his line about “money phones” and at a point, there was even comparison between Lil Wayne and Mr. Carter himself.

You can probably expect 4:44 to drop on Apple Music and all other streaming sites this Friday, July 7th, one week after it’s exclusive Tidal release.

Until then you can check out the full video to ‘The Story of O.J.’ here!
